Editor Notes:

Volume 4 is teeming with all sorts of wonderful letters, stories and biographies.

Your letters make it all worthwhile.

Thanks to my angel Kathy Roberts, Frank’s daughter, for all the Scollise stories. She deserves praise for her resourceful work, of pulling together all she could find out about her dad’s Navy career, one that was highly suited for him. She sent me an angel to watch over me. It watches me while I work. Hope you all like the new font type It is cleaner and clearer for us old frogs.

You will enjoy reading about the three Admirals. It used to be said that with "UDT" duty on your officer record you were a meltdown. These officers excelled each via a different path, V-7 program, USNA, and from Ireland. We SALUTE you!

Because I’m curious, I asked Cathal Flynn how he came to the USA. He replied: “My mother was an American. She and my father, an Irishman, were married in 1935, and thereafter lived in Ireland. So I was born an American citizen, and from childhood intended to come to the USA. I intended to fulfill my service obligation (the draft), and ended up serving 30 years, 1960-90. —Popeye

West Coast Frogs

Can you find two Admirals in this photo?

Scuttlebutt:

It's rumored that some frogs think I make money in this effort. Not! This is truly a NON-profit effort from the gitgo! Believe me, you would not want to pick up the tab (software, printing, postage, computer, server and ISP costs) from your tight retirement budget. It is a public service.

* Webmaster note: We have increased the font size in the web version from 10pt (point) to 12pt in support of the age group of our readers (this paragraph is 12pt).

Because this is our website we could also increase it to 14 pt. Let me know if you want 12pt or 14pt? (this para is 14 pt, the left column is 12pt.)

Reunions:

East Coast 16-18 July
West Coast 20-21 August.
