Letter from CAPT James L. McVoy, USN, UDT 4, Class 7, LCK July 51

"…I know of cases where psychics have solved cases for the police …My grandfather was famed as a physician for uncannily accurate diagnoses, which he credited to intuition.. He’d wakened four or five times the night of the Titanic’s sinking., seeing the scene vividly. I have inherited some of it. I’m convinced for I’ve seen various things as they happened, tornadoes, tidal waves, a CIA agent being murdered in Uruguay, and the slaying of Daniel Pearl. It was stark and by another means, but I told a friend the next day that he had been killed, weeks before it was announced.

The morning of 9/11 I dreamt that I awoke because I heard someone on my balcony. And going out there I found several men soaring in to my balcony using paragliders. They were then setting up a field gun to aim at the Capitol, which was just across the Potomac. I demanded to know what the hell they were doing on my balcony, Concealing a trace of admiration for their feat of getting up there. One guy, maybe middle-eastern but more earnest than hostile, but clearly fanatical, drew himself up before me and commenced a sternly worded speech. ‘It is necessary to seize this balcony in order to carry out our great purpose…blah, blah, blah," and I don’t remember any other words (all this was at the exact time of the Pennsylvania attempted hi-jacking).

I then cut him off and surprising myself with my élan, with great indignation said, "Well you’re not going to take over this balcony!" Whereupon I lashed out at him, but to my chagrin, my fists passed right through him as though he was intangible. He, in turn, was not hurting me, and at that moment I woke up, finding myself lashing out at empty air. Just then, the phone rang and it was my sister in Texas, telling me to turn on my TV. In another minute the Pentagon was hit and the sirens started and in a few more minutes, billowing clouds of smoke rolled over with the old familiar smell of shipboard fires. But the Capitol dome continued to stand unperturbed in the bright blue sky and I kept going out every ten minutes to see if it was still not hit.

Later that morning, I called my sister back and told her that there had been some fights back on one of more of the planes because I had dreamt it.

Editor's Note: There are many many psychic phenomena reported but few gifted individuals with that insight.. DB

Captain McVoy as an Academy graduate served in UDT-4. In those days Academy graduates were dead meat if they did not move back into fleet service. When he left the team, he went to Sub school and spent much time in subs.

In 1966 he was at the Submarine Safety Center (established after the loss of the Thresher) with the Deep Submergence Safety Program (DSSP) under the famous Dr. John Craven of Polaris program fame, who called for a mere four-hour submergence suit to be procured for all our submarines. It had an inflatable boat feature also. I  heard about the British suit through some Canadians and arranged for some to be sent over for evaluation. I was soon transferred and I never learned what the final action was. Although some argued that such suits are a joke because submarines are normally in such deep water, they have to be walked through the possible scenarios to prove to them that there’s no greater danger to a submarine than a collision in a seaway when entering or leaving port, and there the water is usually escapable.

Letter from Jim Kline:

Dog Days on the Priest River

At the end of May, Rhonda and I made a short trip to Yellowstone National Park; while we were gone Marvin Miller (who was house sitting for us) corralled a "part" hound dog pup who had taken up residence in a vacant house-barn about two miles away. He is just a year old (my guess) now, reddish in color and a great playmate for Emma, our German Shepherd who is just over one year old now.

…At the end of June , Al Price , and friends from Pullman and Honolulu floated the Middle Fork of Salmon River. The first two days were very rainy and cold bit it warmed up towards the end, it was a very good trip and fun to back on the middle Fork but my old bones prefer the heat of the Lower Salmon.

I had mucho fun swimming in the Priest River this summer with all the dogs; Lucky (part black Lab) particularly loves the water; he starts crying-whining when we get close to the swimming hole.

The other day Rhonda and I were shopping for a "dog chair" at the Priest River Animal Rescue and emerged with a "part" German Shepherd pup, four months old.
