SCPO Chester V. (Chet). Bright USN, Training Class early WWII

Chet entered the Navy in 1941 and served on the USS Sampson, DD394, USS Wantuck APD, USS Bass, APD. And UDT-1 and 11 and also attended EOD School.

He retired in 1962 with 20 years service. He became a Diving Officer with the US Navy Oceanographic Office. He retired from civil service 1972 in Washington DC.

Legend: The day I was transferred into UDT after Team One lost two men (Satterfield and  Fry). We were at sea off the coast of Korea and the Chief Master at Arms issued me a war bag. Most of the clothes and equipment belonged to the two men who had been lost the day before and their bodies were laid out on the large hatch aft. At this time I was thinking to myself: "You have made some big mistakes in your life, but this is the biggest. "
