Letter from Lou Boyles

Hello Don & Family,

We are both doing good and still enjoying the "fulltime" RV life after almost five years.

We are currently back in California Desert that we both love. We purchased an RV site in Feb. after hearing that the owners of Emerald Desert (where we had wintered for the past 4 years) were turning much of the park into Condos and apartments. We found a great resort just 7 miles away and decided to take the plunge. Glad we did, we love it here and to top it off, our property value has increased by 73%.

The pictures on page 2 show our pad from front and back. We back on to an 18-hole golf course and a man made pond including a waterfall. There are other ponds all over this resort with wonderful features like waterfalls, fountains, bridges and flowers everywhere and it’s so beautiful at night with all the accent lighting. The full time maintenance crews work every day (except Sundays) keeping everything pristine. We feel very fortunate to have found such a beautiful place to live.

The only traveling we have done this year is to Sandpoint, Idaho. Not very adventurous of us but, we decided to re-visit friends, human and canine. Sadly we lost one this fall to cancer, a golden retriever who belonged to a friend. She was named after our Amber, just as sweet and very special to us.

Cont-

Soon after we arrived, we decided to purchase a very run down piece of property, which was adjacent to the secondary lake property we own in Cocolalla (about 10 miles south of Sandpoint). July 1st we went straight to work and for the next five months worked full time transforming the little house. The house (Sportsman Cottage) is now, we have been told, adorable, and  our first renters (a military family) moved in on Dec 1st.

We were finally able to leave Sandpoint November 20th with just a little work left to do on the house. Fortunately we were able to leave that to a friend who had been working alongside Lou on the entire project. Having left so late in the year we were faced with having to drive on some bad roads. As it happened the roads were not bad at all, just some rain and fog I Oregon, but an ice storm came into Northern Idaho just after we left!

As we get older we have found cold climates definitely do not suit us! So with luck we can continue to follow the sun. In the desert, we experience many ideal 72 degree days though at night it can get cool, but we have to remember it is winter time., even here!

We will be here until June with maybe a trip or two in the meantime, then again we just might stay put…no problem there.

Our love to you all. Lou, Suzanne, and a cat named Obe.
