CAPT Robin Goodenough, USNR, Ret.
Training Class Early WWII


He was enrolled in the ROTC Program while attending Yale University and served as an officer in the Pacific during WWII.
After the war ended, he returned to Yale where he completed his bachelor’s  degree and graduated with honors in two majors, pre-med and theology in 1947.
He entered medical school, but with with the outbreak of the Korean was, he returned to active duty and volunteered for UDT training.
He went on to serving in UDT Teams One and Three, Wounded in action he received a Purple Heat and a Bronze Star for bravery.
He also received a special commendation for  operations behind enemy lines. After his service in Korea Robin continued his military career as an active reser- vist. He served as group Commander for the Eleventh Naval District, before moving to Washington D .C. in 1972 to become a special

 

 

 

assistant to the Secretary of Defense in the Pentagon under the direction of Admiral Ray Peet. After this assignment he traveled to 46 foreign countries. Robin retired with the rank of Captain, but he continued enjoy contact with his fellow reservists and UDT/SEAL veterans.
Robin was a lifelong learner, mentor and teacher. He earned a Masters Degree at San Diego State, a Phd at United States International University, and Juris Doctorate at the University of San Diego. He taught high school math at two  high schools, and law at Baltimore University Law school.  He also served as city councilman, and two terms as mayor of  Coron-ado, California.
He was born in Waterbury, CT, in Aug 1924. He was buried in Fort Roscrans National Cemetery in San Diego on May tenth 2008.
Editor’s Note:  He always chided me because I tabbed him with the title “Emeritus Everything” after reading his bio in the 50s 

Frogs Journal.. He was a very, very intelligent person and and a lot fun also.  He will be missed in the  frogs brotherhood for sure.
